Why Facebook Should Be Your First Social Media Platform

It’s a new year and one thing is very clear: Facebook should be your first social media platform.

We know that sales is a numbers game, and the top of your sales funnel should cast as wide a net as possible. This is especially true if you are starting out in social media or want to reach the largest audience. Here is the number of active users in 2016. (Source statista.com)

It’s pretty clear who has the largest audience. But the number of users doesn’t tell the whole story. You also need to consider how often people use these social media platforms. (source: pewinternet.org)


When you combine both pieces of data, the winner and runner-up become very obvious:


Not only does Facebook have the largest number of users, but it also has the most active users, with over 70% using the site on a daily basis.

This is not to say that Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn or other Social Media platforms are not good. In fact, they are very valuable for a very specific target audience.

It is interesting to note that Instagram (which is owned by Facebook) is the runner-up, with a solid base of daily users.

So when it comes to Social Media, Facebook needs to be the first one on your list to engage your current and prospective customers
